How to check in a firearm

Need to check in a firearm?

Here’s how to bring it in safely (and without pissing anyone off):

1: Unload the firearm in your vehicle (or better yet, at home.) Leave all ammo at home or in your vehicle.

2: Lock the slide back

3: Remove all magazines from the firearm, but keep one in the hard case. We will need it to keep the inside of your gun clean during the holster making process, and to determine the correct fit if you are purchasing any magazine carriers.

4: Place the firearm inside a hard case. If you do not have one, you can buy an affordable Apache case at Harbor Freight. This is also a great time to make use of any chamber flags or locks that may have come with your firearm when you purchased it. (Don’t forget to bring the key if you decide to lock it.)

5: Be respectful! The average person would not appreciate having a gun pointed at them, and neither do employees of tac shops.

PSA:

DO NOT load, unload, holster, or unholster your firearm inside the building unless you have been given the clearance to do so by an employee.

DO NOT point your firearm at ANYONE or ANYTHING you are not willing to destroy EVEN IF you believe the firearm is unloaded.

DO NOT place your finger on the trigger or inside the trigger guard at ANY time inside the building. (You do not need to drop your hammer. An employee will do it for you after the firearm is checked in.)

DO NOT assume that anyone else knows your firearm is unloaded. We need to see an empty magwell and a locked back slide in order to determine it is safe.

We take the safety of our employees and customers very seriously and reserve the right to refuse business to anyone who is unable to comply with the rules of firearms safety.
